SLDF South Asian Apparel Leadership Forum 2013: Global Trends and Makings of SL Regional Hub

The world is keener than ever before to lead a serious conversation on apparel sourcing, as we live in times when the toll of conciliating has come in to global focus post the Bangladesh tragedy and other crucial events thereafter where today it was announced of a wage hike that was mandatory for apparel industry workers in Bangladesh. This is the setting in which SLDF, the South Asian Apparel Leadership Forum, the country’s most prestigious apparel summit sets off to discuss thought leadership, continuous innovation and partnerships while presenting Sri Lanka’s case to the world of being the apparel hub for South Asia. With Sri Lanka earning its position as the fashion and apparel hub of the South Asian region and standing strong in its commitment to sustainability, value and invention, the South Asian Apparel Leadership Forum (SAALF) will play the pivotal role in deciding the future of this powerful industry with a top group of apparel heavyweights, retailers and opinion leaders from across the world. Janie Schaffer the founder of the internationally successful brand Knickerbox and head of lingerie and beauty for M&S is among the key speakers for SAALF this year. Schaffer, known to have revived Victoria’s Secret to its current status today, is sharing her expertise in lessons in entrepreneurship and design. Other speakers include TC2 Global CEO Mike Fralix, Coats Thread Global CEO Paul Forman, Andrea Crespi of EuroJersey, GT Nexus Founder, VC and Chief Strategy Officer Kurt Cavano as well as the renowned local apparel mogul MAS Holdings Chairman Deshamanya Mahesh Amalean. The forum engages key players of the global apparel value chain debating timely and current topics vital to delivering today’s consumer demands. Global retailers and brands, designers, local and regional manufacturing enterprises, supply chain and backward integration companies, journalists, academia and opinion leaders in the fashion industry. The South Asian Apparel Apparel Leadership Forum (SAALF) aims to synthesise the global discourse with the intent of proposing solutions to the most demanding issues faced by the industry. This makes it a unique gathering where obstacles and doubts are discussed alongside strategies, plans and answers by supply chain partners, retailers, brand owners and the services sector engaging on equal terms to find solutions for a common purpose.
