The American 3D computer-animated fantasy-adventure film ‘Rise of the Guardians,’ based on William Joyce’s ‘The Guardians of Childhood’ book series and ‘The Man in the Moon’ short film by Joyce, is now showing at the Savoy (3D) Cinema and Liberty Lite (2D).
Imported by Liberty Cinema’s Ltd., the Dreamworks Animation movie previewed in Colombo on the same day it was released in North America, on 21 November.
‘The Guardians of Childhood’ is a multi-story saga detailing the adventures of the immortal Guardians, who are sworn to protect children from the forces of evil. The books have been published as a series that features Joyce’s distinctive illustrations and chronicles the origins of several childhood mythic figures, including Santa Claus, Jack Frost, The Easter Bunny and The Man in the Moon. Each book highlights one character and serves as back stories for characters that are the subject of the full length feature film version.
The star-studded cast includes Chris Pine as Jack Frost, Alec Baldwin as North (Santa Claus), Hugh Jackman as Bunnymund (Easter Bunny), Isla Fisher as Tooth (Tooth Fairy), and Jude Law as Pitch (The Boogeyman).
