Urban Development Board Chairman Ranjith Fernando has been made Chairman of On’ally Holdings Plc along with the appointment of Tyeab Akbarally to the Board of Directors.
UDA owns 47.6% stake in the company which owns Unity Plaza in Colombo 4 whilst Ceylon and Foreign Trades Plc and the Gulamhusein family control over 30% stake.
Fernando has been appointed a Non-Executive Director and Chairman while Tyeab’s appointment is also in a Non-Executive Director capacity. Both come into effect from 17 September.
Fernando was formerly Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and was the longstanding CEO of NDB. He was also Chairman of United Motors Lanka Plc.
Tyeab is the Executive Director of Akbar Brothers Ltd., Quick Tea Ltd., Falcon Trading Ltd., Land and Building Ltd., Flexiprint Ltd. and Akbar Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
He is also the Chairman of Amana Takaful Ltd. and Amana Takaful Maldives Ltd. in addition to being Deputy Chairman of Amana Bank Ltd. He also serves as a Member of the Advisory Panel on the Tea Sector to the Minister of Plantation Industries.
He was the Past Chairman of the Colombo Tea Traders Association, Spices and Allied Products Traders Association and a former Director of the Sri Lanka Tea Board and former committee member of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
With the latest appointment the Board of Directors of On’Ally Holdings Plc comprises R.M.S. Fernando (Chairman), B.V. Selvanayagam (Managing Director), T. Sarveshwaran (Deputy Managing Director), S.A. Gulamhusein, G.T. Fazleabas, S. Selvanayagam (alternate to B.V. Selvanayagam), M.I.R. Zagir, I.H. Cassim (alternate to M.I. Zahir), N.N. Mawimada, A.M. Rakeeb, A.C. Yahiyakhan and T.A. Akbarally.
