The $3 billion apparel industry of Sri Lanka, which is under severe pressure to move operations to countries with cheaper labour resources and raw material such as China, India and Vietnam, especially post the GSP+ fallout, will be launching an innovative philosophy by using waste of Sri Lanka’s apparel industry by up-cycling it and converting it into a fashionable line of clothing for exports, known as the R.E.D re-engineered product range.
