Premium International completes first purpose built private sector multi-specialty hospital outside

Guided by the expertise of Premium International Ltd, Sri Lanka’s only turnkey healthcare solutions provider, Ratnapura is now graced with the first purpose built private sector multi-specialty hospital outside Colombo, thereby adding yet another prestigious venture to its illustrious portfolio of successfully accomplished projects.

This Rs.800 million project named Ratnapura Hospitals and Laboratory Services is a modern multi-specialty private sector general hospital with a total bed capacity of 52. Covering a span of 60,000square feet, this majestic facility stands tall in its grandeur on the Colombo - Ratnapura Main Road just at the turn to the General Hospital Ratnapura. The hospital is equipped with an Emergency Treatment Unit, 4 Operating Theatres, Intensive Care Unit, Premature Baby Care Units and all other modern conveniences. Further it comprises of a fully equipped laboratory and all diagnostic services including CT, Mammogram, X-ray, Echo, ECG and ultrasound scanning facilities.

Premium International, drawing strength from its wealth of experience in healthcare facility development, spanning well over a decade has been the brain child behind this venture, working with the investor from the conceptualisation and idea generation stage until the project was made a reality .The project was completed under the watchful eyes of Premium within a period of  30months 

The services provided by Premium International entailed the development of the project proposal, master plan, complete architectural and engineering services as the main consultant to the project and also complete contract administration as the project manager. Eng. Sugath Paranawidanage, Chartered Civil Engineer and General Manager of Civil works at Premium International, explained the complexities involved during the project implementation having had to work with multiple contractors numbering more than 20 during the final stages. 

Due to the experience and exposure in managing similar projects on previous occasions, Premium was able to deliver the project to the client within the constraints of the budget and also within the stipulated time period. Emphasis was placed on quality in order to ensure a world class facility and Paranawidanage thanked the untiring efforts of his consultancy and project management team members who to their credit had performed an outstanding task. The in-depth knowledge of Premium with reference to healthcare technology and patient care delivery also helped immensely in the design stages when liaising with the architects. He also praised the services of the consultant architect to the project Archt. P. Bogahawatta and the C1 Grade civil contractor N&A Engineering. Premium International is a Gold Award winner at the National Business Excellence Awards and has been associated with some land mark projects in the country. Some of their most recent achievements include the securing of a Rs. 5 Billion contract to set up Sri Lanka’s most advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing facility and the only Private Public Partnership in the country for the Research & Development of Bio- Medical Technologies with the University of Moratuwa.
