Artist Preethi Hapuwatte who has been exhibiting at Barefoot Gallery since 1994 will showcase a collection of art yet again from June 7-24.
Titled ‘Moments,’ the exhibition consists of paintings done over a period of 12 months. “I started having nothing in mind but ended up filling canvas after canvas with oil colour until I was satisfied,” Hapuwatte says. “These are my life experiences with people and land in different places.”
“Moments are captured and kept in our hearts and minds. Friends and loved ones come and go but the most beautiful moments stay awake, each one unique like the waves splashing on the shore. If you do not feel, see and hear them at that MOMENT they are lost and gone unnoticed.”
She added, “Everything is made of water and air, the skies above, the water below, the land, the trees etc and us too. Some day they all fade away. Let us experience this beauty while we stay and share everything with everyone else.”
