Kelani Cables PLC, Sri Lanka’s number one cable manufacturer, recently organised its annual ‘Kelani Knowledge Forum’ to share and discuss the latest developments and techniques used in protection against domestic and industrial electrical accidents and hazards. The event was held at the Waters Edge, Battaramulla.
It is the only discussion forum of its nature in Sri Lanka that shares latest knowledge in the industry and discusses future challenges, and was attended by leading electrical engineers and heads of corporate organisations. This was the second occasion that Kelani Cables organised this forum and it is the only cable manufacturing company to conduct a forum of this nature in Sri Lanka.
More than 250 people, including electrical engineers, project managers, general managers, CEOs and managing directors of organisations, related to construction and development, participated in the Kelani Knowledge Forum 2013.
The keynote address was delivered by a veteran chief engineer, who during his speech educated the participants on the most recent information and techniques available on how to practice electrical installation processes in order to minimise accidents to human lives, buildings and other properties, through the use of practical examples with the innovative techniques used in the developed world.
Research has shown that the fatality rate in relation to electrical accidents is on the increase in Sri Lanka and throughout the world and this was one key reason for Kelani Cables to host this forum. The Chief Executive Officer of Kelani Cables, Mahinda Saranapala, the main person behind this successful forum, stated: “Kelani Cables, being the country’s number one cable manufacturer and the most sought after brand name in the industry, believes it is our responsibility to share the latest developments of this industry with the engineers and company heads related to our industry.
“As a responsible corporate organisation in the country, we are grateful to our customers, big and small, and our corporate social responsibility projects are designed to reward all sections of the society. This annual project is a part of our massive CSR campaign and we make it a point to invite a distinguished personality to offer the latest and best developments in the industry.”
He added: “We invited a veteran chief to deliver the keynote address because he is one of the best in the country in protection against electrical accidents and is a person well aware of the local construction industry. We strive to craft a safe surrounding, free from electrical accidents to the people and their buildings, and professional forums like this help share the knowledge needed to achieve our dream.”
Kelani Cables is a 100% Sri Lankan owned company serving the nation for 43 years and manufactures electrical and communication cables. In the recently concluded SLIM Brand Excellence 2012, Kelani Cables was awarded the bronze award in the Excellent Business Brand category.
