JAT Holdings will partner with the Miss Universe Sri Lanka Organisation to support this year’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, ‘Beauty with a Purpose’. JAT Holdings will undertake to paint and refurbish an identified orphanage for an entire year.

The finalists of the Aviraté Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2011 visited a Children’s Home in Mount Lavinia to fulfil this worthy cause on 2 July. The Miss Universe Sri Lanka Organisation along with the contestants participated in this worthy cause with JAT Holdings in a total makeover of the home, adding a splash of colour into the lives of the children. At the event, the team enlivened the atmosphere of the home with several activities including music, dancing and painting with the kids.

JAT Holdings Managing Director Aelian Gunawardene shared his views: “It’s a great privilege to be able to help those who are in need. It is commendable that the Miss Universe Sri Lanka Organisation carries out such endeavours, portraying further that beauty can be used for a worthy cause. We are happy to partner them in this year’s initiative.”

As the only importer of environmentally friendly furniture lacquers to Sri Lanka, JAT Holdings will use some of its premium brands for this project. Several of their products include Sayerlack, the world’s leader in wood finish from Italy, Hettich the world leader in furniture hardware from Germany, J Chem Emulsion and Enamel Paints, Brush Master, their brand of paint brushes made of DuPont Filaments of USA, timber and laminated flooring from Armstrong of USA and water based putty from Borma Wachs of Italy.  With its tagline ‘Protection with Elegance,’ JAT Holdings will support the selected home for its paint requirements. Sayerlack is the first company in the world to introduce water based interior and exterior lacquers for wood. JAT Holdings represents Sayerlack in the Indian sub continent. The Miss Universe Sri Lanka Organisation has supported similar projects in the past, and hopes to extend this CSR endeavour to reach out to more communities, especially children. Using beauty as the guiding light to attract things that would benefit the communities they wish to reach, Miss Universe Sri Lanka Director Gita Mathew had this to say: “It is an encouragement that companies are willing to support a cause for the children. We are glad to have JAT Holdings to partner with us. It is our ambition to project this title into things that go beyond just beauty and glamour.  This serves as a platform for us to take beauty and use it for a cause that will be beneficial to the communities we hope to serve. The crowned Ms. Universe Sri Lanka will be the ambassador of goodwill throughout her reign for all initiatives the organisation will undertake.”
