Gihan Nanayakkara, the Chairman/Managing Director of Famous Pacific Shipping Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., has now taken the position of the Chairman of the Famous Pacific Shipping Group (FPS) at the Group’s Annual General Meeting held in Bali, Indonesia on the 19 October, 2011.
The Famous Pacific Group of Companies headquartered in Hong Kong, is the largest Asian based freight logistic company having representations in over 60 countries covering over 4,000 destinations world-wide.
The FPS group provides sea and Air freight Services operated through key hub points in Asia, Middle East, Europe, USA and South America. LCL cargo is serviced one day of the week with regular groupage services through a world-wide state of the art net work of distribution points. In less than ten years the EPS group has become a US$ billion plus company achieving one of the highest growths recorded in the industry.
FPS Lanka commenced operation in 1999 and in among the leading sea fright logistic companies in Sri Lanka. FPS Lanka offers a full array of services including sea, air, project cargo, clearing, forwarding, transportation and warehousing services. All transactions are linked with the main systems of the group that include world-wide cargo tracking and on-line BLS.
Nanayakkara in this new position as the Chairman, along with a team of other Directors of the Advisory Board of the group, will oversee the entire world-wide business promotion and development of the FPS group. He will continue to function in his position as the Chairman/Managing Director of FPS Lanka in addition to his new appointment.
