First-ever wedding reality show hits Sri Lankan TV screens

‘Mangala Sihinaya,’ Sri Lanka’s first-ever wedding reality show, hits local television screens this month as Vogue Jewellers and Sri Lanka’s premier television channel Sirasa TV join hands to both reward and entertain hundreds of thousands of television viewers across the country.

Billed to be the most glamorous reality show ever on Sri Lankan television, ‘Mangala Sihinaya’ brings with it 12 totally free wedding packages and 12 gold necklaces during each month of the year – a dream come true for brides-to-be.

Commencing January 2011, a gold necklace will be shown on Sirasa TV between 7:30 and 9 p.m. This is the Sirasa Thirasa belt and features three top rated tele-dramas – ‘Sihina Sithuwam,’ ‘Ganga Addara’ and ‘Vehi Pabalu Sela’.

Viewers need to count the number of times the Vogue gold necklace appears on screen and send as many postcards as possible to ‘Mangala Sihinaya,’ Sirasa TV, P O Box 929, Colombo or an SMS to7788. Viewers also need to nominate a couple getting married during 2011 with every entry, to qualify.

The lucky couples will be shortlisted at each monthly draw, from which one lucky couple will be chosen by a panel of interviewers. The lucky couple’s wedding dream will be made a reality by Sirasa TV and Vogue Jewellers – ‘Wedding is a Fantasy – Reality is Fantastic’.

Sirasa TV will also feature the entire wedding of each monthly winning couple in the new ‘Mangala Sihinaya Reality Show’. This show will recreate the couple’s journey from the very first time they met, down the line, right up to the wedding.

In addition to this, another lucky winner from the general public (and not necessarily a bride or groom), will also be in the running to win a gold necklace from Vogue Jewellers each month.

The first draw will be held at ‘The Wedding Show’ at the BMICH on 14, 15 and 16 January and the first edition of the ‘Mangala Sihinaya Reality Show’ hits the Sirasa television screen at 9 p.m. on Wednesdays in January.
