AOD (Academy of Design), Sri Lanka’s international campus renowned for producing industrially-experienced designers, recently announced a special collaboration with Hameedia. Through this project AOD fashion students will work with Hameedia brand to produce a collection of shirt-dresses.

AOD principal, British fashion designer Karen MacLeod said that AOD encourages students to work on live projects such as this one, in order to help them develop their creativity with a comprehensive sense of practicality.

“The world cannot make use of designers who design within a bubble – they need to be professionals, who use creativity to address social needs with a good sense of practicality. So, I cannot stress how important it is for design students to work with industries while studying; it is what makes their work socially relevant and well grounded.”

Hameedia’s Managing Director Fouzul Hameed said: “Hameedia is a futuristic brand that sees value in young talent. This is why we’re pleased to work with AOD – a design campus known to produce excellent young designers. Through this partnership we hope to give a chance to a young designer to study the Hameedia clientele, product standards and work closely with our brand. This is Hameedia’s way of integrating with future fashion.”

AOD fashion design and fashion marketing degrees are offered by Northumbria University UK – one of Europe’s top 5 design schools. AOD also soffers Northumbria University School of Design degrees in Interior Design, Graphic design, Motion graphics and animation.
