The Sinhala and Tamil New Year is around the corner. It’s a peaceful festival, happily celebrated by the majority of Sri Lankans with great food, games and rituals of goodwill.
ETD plans to conduct a Sinhala Avurudu Uthsawaya under the title ‘ETD Aluth Avurudu’ for the occupants of CFS Prithipura Home in Hendala. CFS is registered with the Department of Social Services as an approved charity and non-governmental organisation. This is a home for 70 persons with disabilities – their ages ranging from 7 years to 60 years. Occupants will participate in the Avurudu event which is planned at the premises of the Preethipura Home.
Highlight of any Aluth Avurudu celebration is the outdoor games which enhances unity and fun at play. The program is to start with a Pooja Dance by the Preethipura Dance Troup to welcome the ETD and Management Club members. The program detailed out for this event also consists of an array of traditional as well as non traditional games for the participants to enjoy. The winners of these competitions will receive gifts from ETD as well as some well wishers supporting this happy occasion.
Plans are under way to present a scrumptious ‘kevili table’ on the day for the entire strength of the home. ETD also wishes to contribute in some way to the current dry rations and other requirements of the home.
All ETD members are working together to make this celebration a memorable one for the occupants of CFS Prithipura Home.
