Sri Lanka’s premium news property, Ada Derana was named News Channel of the Year at the Global Awards for Brand Excellence 2012 held last week at Taj Lands End, Mumbai.
Past winners of the prestigious award include Star News, Times Global Broadcasting Company and CNN – IBN while an independent Jury comprising of Senior Professionals from Marketing, Branding, Advertising, Public Relations, Brand Strategy and Corporate Communications judge the entries.
The Awards are instituted by CMO Asia, Hosted by World Brand Congress and Supported by Marketing Institute of Singapore. The Congress is a meeting place for leaders from every sector and continent from over 500 of the world’s branding and marketing elite under one roof where top executives from the World’s biggest brands and most influential marketing organisations answer today’s critical business challenges.

With sales and marketing professionals from a hundred countries the World Brand Congress is the largest international forum of its kind.
Ada Derana had its beginnings as the conventional television news bulletin aired on TV Derana. Today, Ada Derana is characterised by its availability across delivery channels such as television, radio, web, SMS alerts, IVR, video alerts, and social media such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The Ada Derana apps are available on all Android, Apple and Blackberry devices in all three languages.
