The Lankaputra Development Bank recently distributed fruit saplings among its customers to mark World Environment Day 2018. This function was held at the head office of the LDB under the patronage of Chairman of the bank Sujith Kariyawasam. Working Director of the bank Tuan Riza Hameet and Acting General Manager/CEO Sathish Kumar and a large number of representatives of the senior management were present at the occasion. Among them distribution of fruit saplings is significant.
Chairman Sutith Kariyawasam distributed the saplings as a token to the customers and the employees of the bank. In line with this ceremony, many programs to mark World Environment Day were held at the other eight branches of the bank as well.
LDB has opened and is maintaining branches in Colombo, Hambantota, Polonnaruwa, Kandy, Kegalle, Wennappuwa, Batticaloa and Trincomalee areas at present. These branches are rendering a unique service to the small and medium scale entrepreneurs (SMEs) in these areas.
The LDB grants attractive interest rates for the savings and especially higher interest rates are paid for the fixed deposits of senior citizens. In addition leasing facilities, pawning service, ‘Sandaliya’ savings account for women, ‘Shasthri’ loan scheme for the individuals in the higher education sector are some special services carried out by the LDB at present. The ‘Shasthri’ loan scheme provides concessionary loans for persons to follow degree courses, postgraduate degrees and vocational education in reputed universities and higher education institutes in Sri Lanka as well as overseas.
In addition, the LDB is implementing loan schemes namely “Run aswenna”, “Rivi Bala Savi”, “Jaya Isura”, Govi Navoda” and “Green loan scheme” which have been introduced by the Ministry of Finance. Under these loan schemes entrepreneurs of the country are able to obtain loans at lower interest rates.
