School children from Pottuvilluwa Vidyalaya Puttalam
INSEE Cement, Sri Lanka’s premier manufacturer of cement that has contributed to building one third of the family homes in the country, celebrated World Children’s Day on 1 October with a valuable and lasting gift for more than 300 children at Pottuvilluwa Vidyalaya in Puttalam.
The opening of the Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment plant at Pottuvilluwa was attended by INSEE Cement Sri Lanka Chairman/CEO Nandana Ekanayake, INSEE Cement Sri Lanka Manufacturing Director Serefin Bugeja, INSEE Cement Sri Lanka O&HR Director Chandana Wijayanama, Pottuvilluwa School Principal Udaya Shantha Kumara, Rev. Amal Raj representing the Divisional Education Assistant Director, Public Health Inspector, Palavi Ajith Chamara, Medananda School Principal Sarath Bandara and INSEE Plant and CSR team officials. Ekanayake commented: “As the producer of INSEE Sanstha Cement, we take pride in nurturing the community around our Puttalam Cement Plant and have been launching projects that have benefited schools in the district. This is the third school INSEE Cement has supported with safe and clean drinking water to the school children as a part of our Company’s ongoing CSR initiatives to benefit the communities in the district. In the previous years, we supported Bandaranayakapura School in Wanathavilluwa and Medananda School in Attawilluwa, Puttalam. We plan to continue to support a school every year, and continue to make a meaningful contribution to mark Children’s Day.”
