The show staged on 21 October at Nelum Pokuna Theatre, organised by Enable The Disabled (ETD), created a platform for differently abled persons to showcase their talents on stage.
The following encouraging words came from one of the top most powerful business women in Sri Lanka Sandamini Perera, Deputy Chairperson of Prime Lands Group who was also a generous sponsor herself – “I sincerely want to thank you for getting me involved in such a worthy cause and I was pleasantly surprised by the courage and the talents of all those differently abled youngsters. It was an amazing feeling to see them on stage. I was glad that I could be a part of such a wonderful program which created an enormous impact in our hearts. The beauty I witnessed at the program is that ETD was able to bring those differently abled young people together giving them a meaning to their lives and bringing out the best in them. I wonder whether anyone else would have done it perfectly the way you have handled it. Hats off to the ETD President and her team for simply handling such a difficult task and wish you all the very best for many more such commendable efforts in future.”
“The event awakened many people, people who had never or given little thought to the fact that persons with disabilities are talented, gifted, competent and have great potential... this was the greatest accomplishment. I believe they carried a message back home to the rest of the society,” said Jean Cooray, event co-ordinator.
Amali’s son Akbo is a talented singer and a special young boy of 28 with great interest in achieving greater heights by educating himself. “I am so thankful to the Enable the disabled organisation and DushyanthWeeraman for doing the show DirijayaPrathibha2017. It was a breath taking show. They prove that with lot of love, care and training just like any other, the differently abled also could achieve same things as normal people do. The outcome of the show was excellent with all the backing of the organisers. Thanks for giving my son a chance to sing the song ‘Heal the world’ alongside the starDushyanth. You have made parents and children very happy and the audience was overjoyed with tears. All the best for your future plans,” said Amali.
“Months of rigorous planning by the team and tough training schedules for the participants preceded this mammoth show,” said Sonali Jayasinghe, Secretary of ETD. “Organising the event was no easy task. Many a times it was the sheer determination and enthusiasm of the special participants that kept the ETD team going to overcome the difficulties faced when doing such a show. There were many blessings that came our way too in terms of kind hearted individuals. The happiness that everyone experienced on the day of the show, especially for the special participants will always linger in my heart. It truly was a blessed event and I am very proud to have been a part of it.”
Thank you!
Members of ETD wishes to thank all the special participants, popular artists, sponsors, well wishers, the audience and all others who helped in numerous ways to make Dirijaya Prathibha 2017 a grand success!
