1st in Smart Manager Series: Communication skills

First in the ‘Smart Manager Series’ organised by The Management Club, ‘Communication skills’, was held on 1 February. Russel Kerkoven, the moderator, took the participants through an interesting topic, ‘Communication’.

He emphasised the importance of communication, both spoken and written. He went on to say that both verbal and non verbal communication was important and the message conveyed should achieve the desired results.

He covered the areas of Active listening skills, Body language, eye contact, confidence, when communicating. He explained that the modern methods of communicating by sms, abbreviated words etc., is not acceptable in the business world. We must be aware of the importance of proper communication. This was followed by interaction.

The next program in the Smart Manager series will be ‘Creating Customer Value’. Kerkoven will be joined by Niluja Suthatharn on 8 March.
