Sinister moves by parties led by Western powers to re-create chaos: Basil

Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa stated that certain parties led by Western powers are trying to create chaos in the country which is enjoying peace and harmony dawned through the valiant efforts of the President and it is the duty of everybody in the country to safeguard the hard earned freedom, peace and harmony without falling into the clutches of such powers.
The Minister made special reference to the fact that certain Western powers are trying to bring back turmoil into the country by lifting embargos imposed on the LTTE which played havoc in the country in the past.
He made these comments when participating at a ceremony held recently to declare open the Maternity and Child Care Centre at Thalagama, Mirigama. This Maternity and Child Care Centre was established with assistance from the Liya Abiman Organisation and funds from the Ministry of Economic Development and is of immense benefit to the general public in the area.
The Minister speaking further stated that the President was able to do things which were considered impossible and like wise defeated terrorism which everyone thought to be uncontrollable and the country forged ahead with numerous development activities. Modernisation of maternity and child care centres is one such development activity in this process.
The Minister added that some parties are presently talking about a change in the country. Due to the change brought about by the President, the general public is able to live without fear and the country is in the process of achieving rapid development in every sphere of life. We have to act cautiously in order to bequeath this development to the future generations.
Member of Parliament Wasantha Senanayake, Western Provincial Councillor Kokila Harshini and Chairman of Mirigama Pradeshiya Sabha Sarath Nandasiri were among the large gathering of well wishers present on this occasion.
