The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will conduct a seminar titled ‘Free Trade Agreements: What to Look out for and How to Benefit from Them,’ in a bid to help create awareness among its the business community.
The seminar, which is held under the Chamber’s newly-launched Trade Intelligence Platform, will take place on 19 September at the Chamber auditorium.
Dr. Saman Kelegama, Executive Director, Institute of Policy Studies and Chairman-designate, Agency for International Trade, K. J. Weerasinghe, Special Advisor, Joint Apparel Association Forum Sri Lanka and Advisor, Agency for International Trade and Dr. Ravi Ratnayake, Former United Nations Director of Trade and Investment and Advisor to Ministry of international Trade and Development Strategies will be the resource persons of this seminar.
The seminar will focus on discussing on ‘What do trade agreements do and what do they intend to achieve,’ ‘What sort of trade barriers do FTAs tackle and what are the rules of the game’ and ‘Costs and benefits of bilateral trade agreements vs unilateral liberalization or multilateral agreements under WTO,’ etc.
