What right has the GMOA to dictate terms to the Minister of Health who stands up against bullying by the GMOA? The Minister represents the people while the GMOA represents a trade union masquerading as a professional group.
Professional associations represent the larger and fundamental interests of the profession and they are alive to their obligations to society as a whole and not merely to their members. A trade union like the GMOA should not be represented as a professional association or group.
The GMOA has captured the professional body and in future there must be legislation to debar trade unions representing professional groups from representing the profession. No trade unionist should be permitted on a professional association. This may have to be done by law since the GMOA dominates the profession as a trade union.
