Inspiring women all around the world, She’s Mercedes is a platform that was built to connect and empower women to unleash their fullest potential. Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) introduces this platform to Sri Lanka as part of delivering Mercedes-Benz brand values to its customers. She’s Mercedes is a brilliant canvas woven around the idea that the power of inspired minds can have a great impact for excellence.

She’s Mercedes strives to break down gender stereotypes across the globe and this is an inspiration circle of intellectual empowered women with diverse interests who get together to share experiences, exchange ideas and thoughts, look through different perspectives, engage in self building conversations and build up connections amongst themselves in order to build a strong network.

Going down the history of Mercedes- Benz, it shows the influence it has had from inspiring women. In August 1888, Bertha Benz, a German automotive pioneer, business partner and wife of automobile inventor Carl Benz took a long distance journey which marked history because Bertha Benz was the first woman in the world to drive a car. Despite the very hot weather in the South of Germany and of being smeared with oil and caked in dust, Bertha Benz proudly arrived in Pforzheim after a more than 60 mile trip in the patent motor car which was invented by her husband Carl.

Buoyed by a firm belief in herself and the technology, Bertha embarked on this journey without the knowledge of her husband. The long distance, scarcity of fuel, blocked valves and even frayed cables failed to thwart her pioneering ambition to complete her test drive.

She was the mother of five children, a businesswoman but most of all, a visionary. Although at that time, a woman driving a car was unthinkable for society at large, it certainly was no hindrance for Bertha Benz.

Channelling her spirit, She’s Mercedes is devoted to inspire and emphasize the modern idea that the female clientele of Mercedes- Benz has unlimited choices, free of the constraints of gender stereotyping.

Mercedes conveys a strong message by saying that nothing about a car categorises it as a man’s or woman’s and that it is an individual choice that anyone is allowed to make. By this, they strive for gender equality and aim to shatter gender stereotypes.

She’s Mercedes tackles gender stereotypes in a unique and exceptional manner, employing a mix of several formats such as intimate portraits, home stories and interviews. Strong women who have succeeded in life from various fields and industries and are role models get together to provide personal insights by delving into topics related to both business and private life and impart new perspectives on life.

To this date, She’s Mercedes have brought together remarkable personalities and dynamic individuals who are dedicated to push the boundaries to go forward in life.

Some examples to mention, the model, actress and activist, Amber Valletta, the founder of Blogilates, CasseyHo and the inspiring mathematician, Anne-Marie Imafidon are some of the pioneers who put in their dedication and efforts in empowering women and who encourage women to reach higher and achieve their goals.

In Sri Lanka, considering the inspiration that Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) has drawn from women over the years and in keeping with its brand values, the introduction of She’s Mercedes has helped in shattering the cycle of gender-typecasting and there will be many an engaging activity held in order to achieve these objectives. And indeed, the idea of a successful woman in a Mercedes car will certainly remain familiar. After all nothing about a car categorises it as a man’s or woman’s. It’s an individual choice.
