Pasindu Hirushan, the freshman at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura who was nearly killed by the brutal raggers (and miraculously survived, after nearly 100 days in intensive care, thanks to dedicated medical staff) is apparently taking the USJ leadership to the Supreme Court for their collective failure to prevent the incident.
This is the best outcome of such an unfortunate incident. “Anthare” thugs have been ruling public universities at will whilst the entire university leadership had been cowering and hiding behind long lists of excuses, passing the buck to everyone else. If every student/parent starts hauling the entire university leadership before courts, I am sure all these Vice Chancellors and Directors would soon recover their lost backbones and act firm. Or hand over their jobs to those who aren’t scared of thugs and bullies. Hirushan deserves the nation’s salute!
