This is to complain that the Litro Gas dealer Vijaya Service Station at 24, Jetawana Road, Colombo 14 charged me Rs. 290 last week (Wednesday 5 September) for a 2.3 kg gas cylinder when the actual price is only Rs. 283.
I gave the salesperson Rs. 1,000 and he gave me Rs. 720 after requesting an additional Rs. 10. When I saw the price card I noticed that the price was Rs. 283. Therefore, I gave him Rs. 3 and requested to return the Rs. 10 to which he retorted that their price was Rs. 290.
(Please note that I had to turn the price card in order to see the price as this had been kept with the reverse /blank side facing the customer). I must also mention that there was no receipt given for the above transaction.
This is to suggest that the Consumer Affairs Authority should conduct raids on and off on these dealers and the gas company should cancel their franchise to market this product. Those authorised should take some punitive action against this sort of dealers who overcharge customers to prevent any recurrence in the future.
