Under the Gamperaliya program, interlocking paving stones have been fixed in our garden and even the drain was made larger than what it was. In spite of the renovation which would have cost the Municipality a colossal sum, the entrance to this garden gets inundated frequently. Even with a slight drizzle of rain, the situation gets worse.
Being a resident at the top of the lane, I am the worst affected as either I have to stay at home (I feel sort of incarcerated and at times have to postpone attending to my congregational prayers at the mosque nearby) till the flood recedes or has to wade through this polluted water.
I am also unable to use the back entrance as it has been locked with a metal gate installed which I think is an unauthorised installation.
I therefore humbly request that some senior engineers visit this location to see what could be done to prevent the overflow of water from the drain. Otherwise, the investment by the CMC for the renovation has gone down the drain!
Over to the Mayoress for urgent action.
