According to a recent news item, Prime Minister Rajapakse has said that Sri Lanka will be able to administer COVID vaccines being rolled out in other countries to treat COVID-19 patients only on the recommendation of the WHO. The Government should, I think, get the green light from the Health Ministry-appointed risk-averse Expert Committee and not rely on WHO. This should be so when we are ignoring their (WHO) guideline with regard to the approval given for burial of COVID affected cadavers and relying on the report of the Expert Committee.
Will not the local health experts know better the Sri Lankan patients than the WHO? Over to the Minister of Health Pavithradevi Wanniarachchi for her kind consideration the above suggestion.
