With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the detergent and soap manufacturers have started advertising their products claiming to be 99.9% effective against germs and viruses. Unfortunately, no one has been able to come out with a product to claim 100% against germs and viruses.
Perhaps, these people who advertise such products must be under the impression that all the consumers are gullible and blindly accept their claims. On what basis are they claiming 99.9% effectiveness against germs and viruses? Have they got their products tested and certified by an accredited testing laboratory to an international standard to confirm this? Unfortunately, most of these advertisements are Indian ads.
This is nothing but deceiving and misguiding the public, and the consumer protection authorities should take this up very seriously along with the media responsible for such advertising, including the PAY TV channels, and take necessary action for spreading false propaganda.
