First, I thought he was dead, then maybe he was drunk. But then I realised he was making a valiant effort to get accurate shots on speeding vehicles. I am told this is a common sight on the Southern Expressway between Angunakolapelessa and Barawakumbuka and here are my questions to you:
1) Is this legal?
2) If so, under which section of the traffic law does it fall (my understanding is when a traffic policeman uses a laser gun to determine a speed of a vehicle so that he could punish a motorist, there’s an established procedure including the number of the team, specific duties of each, the distance between each member, etc.)
3) Or have the traffic laws been amended secretly, giving the freedom to each policeman to use a radar gun at will and punish motorists as he wishes?
4) Are the Policemen (such as pictured) working under specific orders of and with the approval of the respective OIC Traffic and higher officers?
