World Peace Organisation recognises Hakeem and Basil

Text and pix by Ashraff A. Samad The World Peace Organisation recently held a recognition ceremony to grant a peace award to Sri Lanka. The organisation’s President is Abid Ali Abid from Denmark.

Nelson Mandela Peace Awards were presented to Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapkasa and Minister of Justice Rauff Hakeem. Two World Peace Ambassador posts were given to Eastern Provincial Council Member A.L. Jameel and Deputy Speaker and Member of Parliament in Maldives Ahamed Nazeem. Other award winners included Minister Rajitha Senarathna, Former Chancellor of South Eastern University Jazeema Ismail and National Peace Council’s Dr. Jehan Perera.
