World Bank to fund new Govt.’s nutrition drive; meets new Child Affairs Minister

World Bank Country Director Francoise Clottes on Friday called on the new Child Affairs Minister Rosy Senanayake.
During their meeting, the focus was on Senanayake’svision on early child development and the World Bank’s nutrition program.
As part of the 100-day program, the new Government has announced the launch of a Rs. 20,000 allowance for pregnant mothers to supplement nourishment of children. The Ministry said the World Bank had agreed to allocate a two-year special funding program to ensure the success of this initiative.
