Joint Opposition (JO) Wimal Weerawansa has exposed his ‘secret deals’ with the United National Party through his behaviour in the Parliament Chamber, State Minister of Highways Dilan Perera said yesterday.
Referring to an argument that erupted in Parliament on Tuesday when Minister Faizer Mustapha objected to an oral question raised by UNP MP Chaminda Wijesiri on an alleged fraudulent deal by the Uva Chief Minister, Perera claimed that the fact that both the UNP General Secretary Kabir Hashim and Weerawansa were condemning Musthapha indicated their common goal.
“Their secret deal is to split the Sri Lanka Freedom Party” Perera charged.
“When Musthapha refused to answer the question raised by MP Wijesiri, Weerawansa, Hashim, Dinesh Gunawardena and Bandula Gunawardena all shouted at Musthapha. This clearly displayed how the secret deal works between the Joint Opposition and the UNP,” he stated.
Slamming JO MP Pavithra Wanniarachchi’s commitment to organise the next JO rally on Saturday in Ratnapura, Perera said Wanniarachchi was taking the role as the main organiser of the rally because she had been promised to be appointed as the General Secretary of the new party to be formed by Basil Rajapaksa.
