Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Jeffrey Feltman, who arrived in Sri Lanka on Wednesday for a three-day visit, met with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today at Temple Trees.
United Nations Resident Coordinator Una McCauley and Minister of Law and Order and Southern Development Sagala Ratnayake were also present at the meeting.
The Under-Secretary-General also met with the religious leaders of all faiths to discuss the progress on the reconciliation process.
This is the Under-Secretary-General’s second visit to Sri Lanka and is a follow-up to his 2015 visit, to take stock of progress in the country and engage national stakeholders on the peace-building process.
During his visit, Feltman will meet with Government officials and the leadership of the Tamil National Alliance. He will also travel to the Eastern Province and meet with representatives of the diplomatic community, civil society and religious leadership.
