Visiting Indian Army Chief meets Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister

The Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army, General Dalbir Singh Suhag, who arrived in Sri Lanka Sunday on a five-day official visit, met with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday at the Parliament Complex.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe during his brief interaction with the visiting Army Chief recalled cordial relations between both countries and underlined the importance of further promotion of the same.

The discussions between the Indian Army Chief and Prime Minister centered on matters significant to both countries.

General Dalbir Singh is visiting Sri Lanka at the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart, Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva.

The Indian Army Chief also called on the State Minister of Defense Ruwan Wijewardene and Defense Secretary Karunasena Hettiarachchi at the Ministry premises on Monday. He also met former Army Commander Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka at the Ministry.
