‘Village to Village-House to House’ program benefits over 50, 000 people

The Economic Development Ministry has solved the problems of nearly 50,000 people in the Badulla and Moneragala Districts in the Uva Province at the end of its 337 mobile service programs in the province launched by the Ministry under the Village-to-Village and House-to-House National Program, Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa said.
The Ministry will conduct a further 549 mobile services to address the problems of nearly 1.3 million people living in 26 Divisional Secretariat Divisions covering the 12 electorates in the Badulla and Moneragala Districts.
The mobile services were introduced to the Uva Province last month following the success of the mobile service programs held in the Kegalle, Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts.
Minister Rajapaksa said this is an instance where the state administration has visited the public at their doorstep to identify and address their problems.
This has immensely benefited the public living in 886 Grama Seva divisions in the Moneragala and Badulla Districts. Many issues such as those relating to birth, marriage and death certificates, National Identity Cards, walking aides, wheel chairs, passports, requests for spectacles, lands, housing, health, agriculture, fisheries and animal husbandry of the Uva Province public have been solved through the mobile service.
During a meeting held at the Economic Development Ministry in Colombo on Monday (July 14) to review the progress of the mobile services under the Village-to-Village and House-to-House National Program, Minister Rajapaksa directed officials to take steps without delay to solve problems affecting the public for a long time because they were overlooked by officials.
He also directed the officials to provide wheel-chairs and crutches to those who are in need.
