Vijitha Yapa presents memento to Dammu Ravi in New Delhi

President of the Afro Asian Book Council, Vijitha Yapa, recently presented a memento to the Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Trade and Commerce, Dammu Ravi in New Delhi.
Ravi was the Chief Guest at the silver jubilee celebrations of the Afro Asian Book Council. Headquartered in New Delhi, the council has 19 member countries, which represent booksellers and publishers in Africa and Asia.
Its aim is to promote the availability and sale of books in the respective countries and to popularise Asian books in African countries while doing the same for African books in Asian countries. The current President, who is from Sri Lanka, said that a meeting was being organised in Colombo in August in cooperation with the Export Development Board.
