UPFA candidate, MP brother surrender after threatening Deputy EC

A UPFA Parliamentarian and his brother who is contesting the Uva Provincial Council election as a ruling party candidate surrendered to the police yesterday after allegedly threatening a senior elections official.
Thenuka and Anura Vidanagamage who were accused of allegedly threatening a Deputy Elections Commissioner in Badulla were produced before the Mahiyanganaya Magistrate after they surrendered to the local police. They were released on bail of Rs. 100,000 each.
The Mahiyanganaya Police have commenced an investigation into the incident after Deputy Elections Commissioner Namal Thalanganama made a complaint.
