The UNP Working Committee which met yesterday made several high profile appointments and upheld the decisions reached at the Party Convention late last month.
UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake said the Working Committee had appointed Kabir Hashim as Chairman of the Party.
The Working Committee had also made several other key appointments during last evening’s meeting.
Mangala Samaraweera has been appointed Secretary of Political Campaigns, while MP Harin Fernando has been appointed Secretary of Plantations. MP P. Harrison was also given the appointed Secretary of Agricultural Affairs. MP Rosie Senanayake was appointed Chairperson of the Lakvanitha movement while Renuka Herath was appointed Vice Chair.
No decisions were made on the filling of vacant seats on the Leadership Council created by the refusal of MPs Sajith Premadasa and Thalatha Athukorale to participate, party sources said. (DB)
