The Advisory Committee of the United National Party will meet today to appoint the remaining vacant positions and to decide party’s agenda for 2012.
The committee will appoint two senior vice chairmen, three vice chairmen, a deputy secretary and two assistant secretaries at today’s meeting.
The Advisory Committee is headed by Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and consists of Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa, Assistant Leader Joseph Michel Perera, Chairman Gamini Jayawickrama Perera, National Organiser Daya Gamage, General Secretary Tissa Attanayaka and Treasurer Thilak Karunarathna.
Meeting for the first time following the appointment of new office bearers the committee will also decide on a date for the next Working Committee Meeting. Re-appointing electoral organisers and appointing electoral organisers for the vacant positions will be finalised at the next Working Committee meeting.
Meanwhile, addressing a media gathering on Wednesday General Secretary Tissa Attanayaka said that all orders of business under the purview of the UNP Working Committee will be conducted in accordance with a set agenda from January onwards.
Attanayake stated that apart from the Working Committee, all national seat organisers will be given set agendas and time schedules to work in accordance with.
