The main Opposition United National Party (UNP) says it has not had any talks with the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) as claimed by some Government members. UNP MP Kabir Hashim said there is an attempt to give the impression that the UNP has reached a deal with the TNA which could be seen as unpatriotic. The UNP MP said that his party has not reached any deal with the TNA, nor will it agree to any conditions by any political party. Hashim said that in order to form a coalition ahead of the next Presidential elections, the UNP is in talks with several leading political parties in Sri Lanka. He said that some political parties within the Government are also in talks with the UNP and this has irked the Government. (Colombo Gazette)
