While the working committee of Sri Lanka’s major opposition United National Party (UNP) met yesterday the appointment of the party national organiser was postponed to the next meeting.
UNP general secretary Tissa Attanayake said that the national organiser will also be chosen with consensus.
The UNP working committee intended to appoint its national organiser today. MPs Ravi Karunanayaka, Mangala Samaraweera, and Dayasiri Jayasekara were vying for the post, sources said.
Meanwhile, Imitiyaz Bakeer Markar, a party vice president said he sent a letter to the party General Secretary Tissa Attanayake proposing the name of UNP Moneragala District MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara for the post.
