The Advisory Committee of main opposition United National Party (UNP) yesterday appointed members to fill the vacancies in the Working Committee.
UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake stated that the Working Committee was now complete following today’s appointments.
He said the Advisory Committee has however not appointed two out of the three slots allocated to associations affiliated to the party and a representative from Colombo and Trincomalee Districts.
“The committee reached a consensus on the non-appointment of members to certain slots ion the Working Committee. Therefore, the Working Committee is now complete,” he said.
He noted that all members of the Advisory Committee including Deputy Leaders Karu Jayasuriya and Sajith Premadasa were also present at yesterday’s meeting and reached a consensus on the Working Committee members.
Attanayake said the Working Committee is to meet on Sunday (18) and the announcement to appoint office bearers for 2012 would be announced at the meeting. (Colombo Page)
