Students of the Sabaragamuwa University have launched a protest following the suspension of 58 students from the university.

Students affiliated to the Sabaragamuwa University have commenced a protest against the suspension of students by the university authorities for allegedly ragging junior students.

The Sabaragamuwa University student union has told the media that the university authorities have suspended students who have openly highlighted the problems faced by universities in the country.

The students at the Sabaragamuwa University have decided to boycott lessons until the authorities remove the suspension imposed on the 58 students.

In early January, the university temporarily closed for students due to several incidents related to ragging that had taken place within the university premises.
