Lecturers of Sri Lankan universities have decided to hold a protest march in Colombo next week calling for an increase in their salaries.
The Federation of University Teachers’ Association (FUTA) has said that university academics have been left with no other option but to continue with its agitation campaign to win their demand.
Head of FUTA, Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Devasiri has said that a series of protest marches and public meetings will be held by the Association to raise awareness on the issues faced by the university academics.
Devasiri has said that several rounds of discussions with the government have so far failed to bring any results to the issues faced by the university lecturers.
Meanwhile reports say that academic activities in several universities have been severely impacted by the ongoing dispute. (www.colombopage.com)
