The handover ceremony of the Emirates Housing Scheme, Kohilawatta, comprising of 16 housing units donated by Sharjah Charity International, UAE, took place on Saturday 30 November.
The occasion was graced by Senior Ministers A.H.M. Fowzie and Athauda Seneviratne, Abdulhamid A.K. Al Mulla, Ambassador of United Arab Emirates in Colombo, Tarek Saeed Al Noman, Board Member of Sharjah Charity, and Mohamed Hamdan Al Zari, Projects Management Supervisor of Sharjah Charity International, United Arab Emirates.
This is the first housing scheme constructed by UAE in Colombo. It comes as yet another gesture of goodwill and cooperation by the Government of United Arab Emirates towards providing shelter to the poor and needy families in Sri Lanka.
Over the past several years, several charity and welfare organisations of UAE have successfully implemented a number of vital projects to help the poor and needy in different parts of the island.
