Construction work of the Trincomalee-Thirikkonduyadumandu road in Eastern Province will be completed next month.
The total cost is Rs.7, 350 million. The 98.08km long road has been constructed with the credit aid of the Government of France. The overall project consists of three sections including the construction of Trincomalee-Thirikkonduyadumandu road, extending B-10 road from Allai to Kantale, constructions of Ralithulai Bridge and Gaangi Bridge. The project will extend to Trincomalee and Batticaloa in the Eastern Province and in Kantale in the North-Central Province by a network of roadways. Road B-10 which extends from Allai to Kantale would be widened by 6.2 metres and at a cost of Rs.1, 363 million. This major road development project would rapidly improve the living conditions and well-being of a significant number of people in conflict-affected areas by restoring basic social infrastructure, community and public services, and livelihoods, Highways Ministry stated.
