A seminar titled “Citizens’ Right to Information” organised by the Organisation of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA) will be held today at 6 p.m. at the OPA Auditorium, the Professional Centre, 275/75 Prof. Stanley Wijesundera Mawatha, Colombo 7.
Topics and the speakers are “Right to Information as a Human Right” by Dr Jayampathy Wickramaratne P.C; “Right to Information and Governance” by Prof. Savithri Gunasekera-(University of Colombo); “Development and Progress of Right to Information Legislation in Sri Lanka” by Dr Mario Gomez -(University of Colombo); “Experience of the Press in matters relating to Right to Information” by Manik De Silva – (Editors’ Guild of Sri Lanka) and “Experience of other countries in Implementation of Right to Information Legislation” by Imran Furkan -(Sri Lanka Press Institute)
The presentation by the Panelists will be followed by a discussion with audience participation.
