I am glad to see the Muslim people of Sri Lanka live in peace and brotherly friendship with all other communities in keeping with the teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohamed. In this country where peace now prevails they enjoy the freedom to live with due recognition of their cultural identity, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said. The teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohamed bring a message of peace, unity and co-existence to people the world over, providing a valuable basis to prevent communal, religious, ethnic and caste conflicts and clashes among people, President said in a message to mark Milad-Un-Nabi. Following is the full text of the message: I am pleased to send this message of greetings to the Muslim people of Sri Lanka as they celebrate the festival of Milad-Un-Nabi, the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohamed. As they join their brethren the world over in celebrating this important festival in the Muslim calendar, it is noteworthy that the national Milad-Un-Nabi festival is celebrated this year at Beruwela, in the Kalutara District, that is home to many of the oldest settlers of the Muslim faith in Sri Lanka. The teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohamed brings a message of peace, unity and co-existence to people the world over, providing a valuable basis to prevent communal, religious, ethnic and caste conflicts and clashes among people. I am glad to see the Muslim people of Sri Lanka live in peace and brotherly friendship with all other communities in keeping with the teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohamed. In this country where peace now prevails they enjoy the freedom to live with due recognition of their cultural identity. On this day when celebrations are held throughout the land to mark this great event in religious history, it is time to give thought to the need for unity, patience, compassion and love among people that flows from the teachings of the Holy Prophet. I wish all celebrations on this Milad-Un-Nabi Festival every success with the spread of peace and reconciliation in our Motherland.
