Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa said that the TNA is attempting to push Tamils in the north to vote for the by spreading racism and separatism. Addressing a public meeting at Madurankuliya in the Puttalam District September 14, the Minister said that it is crystal clear with the TNA manifesto that the former Tiger-proxy party is playing the racist card to win the Northern Provincial Council election. He said that the pledges made by the TNA in their election manifesto could not be fulfilled through a Provincial Council administration. Hence, the Minister said, the TNA is only playing the racist card to mislead the northern voters. Minister Rajapaksa charged that the TNA is planning to paint a different picture to the international community, in case they win the NPC elections. He said that all what the TNA wants is to turn an election victory as a mandate for separatism. While urging people in the north not to be misled by TNA tactics, he requested the voters in the Wayamba and Central Provinces to cast their vote for the UPFA and thus to reject racism and separatism.
