Three new MPs take oaths

Three members of Parliament took their oaths before Speaker Karu Jayasuriya yesterday.

United National Party strongman from the Kalutara District Palitha Thewarapperuma, who was not available in Parliament on 3 September, was the first on the list. 

Bimal Weerakoon was the second to go before the Speaker, who officiated the resignation of JVP lawmaker Sarath Mayadunne and accepted Weerakoon as the replacement. 

Lakshman Senevirathne (UPFA) took oaths with the Speaker accepting the resignation letter from Chamara Dasanayake, who opted to remain in the Uva Provincial Council. (AW)
