Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa yesterday launched the third phase of Divi Neguma program in Aththanagalla, Dhinapamunuwa Grama Sewa division.
Under this stage, the Ministry of Economic Development has made arrangements to uplift the economic standards of 2.5 million families throughout the country.
Divi Neguma National Program is being implemented under three main sectors. Agriculture, livestock, fisheries and cottage industries will be developed under this program.
The 2.5 million families joining the program under the third stage will be provided with coconut saplings, fruit plants, saplings of minor export and herbal crops, vegetable seeds and fertiliser.
The program will also target production of export items.
Deputy Minister of Petroleum Industry Sarana Gunawardhana, MP J.R.P. Sooriyapperuma, Gampaha District Secretary J.J. Rathnasiri and Government officials and general public also participated at this occasion.
