Davos: President of Swiss Confederation Doris Leuthard has commended the Sri Lankan Government’s commitment to democracy and good governance to make the country more peaceful and prosperous through sustainable peace and the national economic plan to establish economic stability.
Meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and his delegation in Davos on Wednesday, President Leuthard said Switzerland is ready to provide utmost support to Sri Lanka to reach its goals strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The Prime Minister apprised the Swiss President of the national programs the government is currently pursuing to strengthen the democracy and good governance while stabilising the economy aiming to build Sri Lanka as a powerful country. He also enlightened her on progressive steps taken under the leadership of President Maithripala Sirisena.
President Leuthard explaining in detail about investments made by multinational companies like Nestlé in Sri Lanka noted that Lankan traditional Ayurvedic medicinal practices are becoming famous among Swiss residents.
The Prime Minister acknowledging the support extended by Switzerland in areas of judicial reforms, training of provincial councilors and the constitutional reform process, said Sri Lanka intends to hold an investment summit in Switzerland in the near future.
